Columbia, Missouri
Columbia is the location of the University of Missouri. The college town has a reputation as politically liberal and is known by the nicknames “The Athens of Missouri,” and “CoMO.” Over half of Columbians possess a bachelor’s degree and over a quarter hold graduate degrees, making it the thirteenth most highly educated municipality in the United States. The city is currently in the midst of a construction boom, with numerous high-rise apartments, hotels, and condos going up downtown.

LDS History
In 1831, Mormon founder Joseph Smith declared that the righteous would gather in Independence, Mo. to greet the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Far West was the largest Mormon settlement in Missouri. A site for a temple was dedicated at this location . Liberty Jail is where Joseph Smith and others were unjustly imprisoned from December 1838 to April 1839.
